Cooking outdoors has never been more fun. What is the Solavore Sport? The Solavore Sport is a retained-heat box-type solar cooker, the most versatile of solar cooker designs. Bake, simmer, roast, dehydrate, even pasteurize water. 1″ surround insulation means you can cook even under passing clouds. How hot does it get? The typical range for the Solavore Sport is 200º to 300º F. That’s plenty hot, since most foods cook at 180º. No burning. Food retains more color, texture, and nutrients. Some solar ovens reach temperatures of a conventional oven, however, as with a conventional oven, you cannot leave your oven unattended all day. Set your food to cook in your Solavore Sport and leave for work, play, or for lending a hand to a neighbor. Is the Sport safe around children? One-inch insulation means that heat stays on the inside yet the outside is not hot to the touch. There is no glass whatsoever on the Solavore Sport. The housing is made from nylon resin injection-molded under 1,000 tons of pressure, making it lightweight and virtually indestructible. We drop-test our housings from 12′ onto concrete – so you can rest assured it will stand up to rough weather (and kids and dogs). Do I have to use the pots that come with the Solavore Sport? Dark pots with lids provide the best heat transference, accelerating the cooking process, but you can use whatever suits your dish – cookie sheets, Pyrex lasagna pans, or your favorite bread loaf pan. All you add is sunshine The Solavore Sport comes ready to go. Includes detachable Sport Reflector, two 9″ round Graniteware pots, thermometer, Water Pasteurization Indicator (WAPI) and Solavore Getting Started Guide (with recipes). The oven measures 27″ long x 17″ wide x 12″ high. The Solavore Sport is proudly Made in the USA.
